Standing Winecup Stencil

from $10.00

(Callirhoe digitata)

A geometric floral stencil in the craftsman/bungalow style of the 1900s-1920s is based on the native prairie plant “Standing Winecup.” Sometimes this is also called “purple poppy mallow”, but the “standing” version is more upright. It has bright fuchsia flowers and spreads readily by seed. The deep tap root means it is very drought tolerant and resilient, but it doesn’t like to be moved. I have lots of this in my garden and it blooms around the end of May into June.

  • SMALL DIMENSIONS: 6 3/4” tall by 4 1/2” wide

  • LARGE DIMENSIONS: 10 7/8” tall by 7 3/8” wide

Stencil Details

The Standing Winecup (Callirhoe digitata) is designed to be a part of a frieze with the other flowers in this series and has two extra diamonds on either side to help you align it with the next flower in the pattern (trace them in pencil and then use that to line up the next stencil). It also makes a great standalone design on an accent pillow, a table runner, or roller shades. Use your imagination and creativity!

This stencil is cut from 7.5 mil (small) or 10 mil (large) Mylar which is thick enough for many many re-uses, but not so thick that the design is difficult to stencil. Because it is a larger design, a foam roller might work for part of the design, but I recommend using a stenciling brush to get into all the fine details. Stencil with acrylic paint, latex paint, stencil creams, fabric paint, or glaze. You can use spray adhesive, but I recommend just using blue painters tape to hold the stencil in place and a dry brush or roller to keep paint from bleeding.
